AT LAST, WIFI!

Sorry folks, while we are enjoying Italy, it is not an internet friendly place. Tonight, we have finally found a restaurant near our home which has wi-fi and most importantly for Mason attractive Italian waitresses (though daddy is also "sneaking" some looks).

Where do I start? First, flying to Europe is no fun. We had some near misses in Montreal -- were we supposed to pick up our luggage or not? were we supposed to go through customs? we ended up going outside of security, and someone lost for a while their boarding pass (Mrs. Trinca) Very few of us slept much on the European leg. Lots of movies and airplane food, while daddy madly studied his Italian (it hasn't helped). Upon landing, we waited and waited and waited and waited, but no luggage Finally, after what apparently was a long vino break on the part of our luggage handlers it floated out. Hurray! Customs took one look at us and figured the chances of us being terrorists was low, took pity on us, and waved us through without a second look.

Outside, our angel: Massimo -- a gentle, northern Italian with a "large" car. Our luggage safely on board, we headed off to for an early Sunday morning car tour of Roma.

THE ILLICIT PURCHASE

Alright, in an attempt to make this whole blogging thing work, I snuck out today and bought an HP mini, which is essentially a blackberry on steriods. Signora Trinca -- who is worried that this vacation is going to bankrupt us -- was in Detroit dropping off Jack-Jack at grandma's. Lindsay, the dogs (on their way to doggy summer camp on Eastern Shore), and I made a commando like move on Best Buy. It was a classic daddy purchase -- in and out of the store in less than 10 minutes. Now, I have to figure out how to make my sausage-like fingers fit on these ity bity keys. I guess if I can learn to drink coffee, email, and weave in and out of traffic like a true Washingtonian, I will also learn how to sit in a Roman coffee shop and type on mini-me. We leave in the morning! Ciao, baby

COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS

Hello friends and family. The Trinca family is about to leave on our latest excellent adventure - Rome. Tune in here if you have any interest in keeping up with our attempts to win the ugliest Americans in the Eternal city Summer 09 award.

Kim and I are taking the "gooey center" of the Trinca kiddy cookie as they all find themselves graduated this Spring -- Mason from Langley High School, Shelby from Cooper Middle School and Harrison from Chesterbrook Elementary School. The crusts are staying -- older sister, Lindsay and pesky baby brother, Jackson are staying put here state-side.

We leave Saturday, June 27 and land back here on July 5. The excitement is building and even mommy -- despite leaving her baby for the first time with Nonna Deborah -- is beginning to think -- Arrivederci a Roma (see you in Rome). P.S. keep in mind that many of these posts will be made late at night after much vino. I apologize in advance!
